No-haste music.

Soft and ethereal pianos with synthetic sounds created from soundscapes.

Lighneted notes, lengthened chords, glitch, smooth atmospheres, environmental noises…

A game played around sound, improvised.

A break without post-production or master, to catch the moment… and to stretch it.

Influences… La Monte Young, Xenakis, Stockhausen, Nicolas Jaar, field recordings, horizon lines, Brian Eno, radio tuning, Sakamoto, Arvo Pärt, synthesis, lullabies, Steve Reich, waves moving slowly, Phillip Glass, Chopin & Schumann, repetitions and mantras, Max Richter, Arca, uncertainty, walk unknown places, Johansson & Arnalds, Vangelis, keep a piano chord until the sound disappears…

New Release: Onus

Onus_neweb

Onus is a bad day. A slump.

Surely the most gray and sad work that I ever made for this library. A step beyond melancholy, Onus tries to collect most of feelings and motivations that we can live in those times in which one is not quite right: from gloom to hope, anger, moments of simple contemplation.

When one collapses and at the same time want to get up and initiate change. When the head is going a mile a minute and yet one does not think of anything. This moments when you are blank and get great lucidity both.

Onus is melodic lines of strings and winds supported in electronic beds. With synths in the background and saturated drum machines. Guitars that appear suddenly, distant. There are broken rhythms and kicks that hit you. The result of mixing dark electronica with dramatic orchestral arrangements.
Influences… Actress, snowy beaches, silence, Arca, Haxam Cloak, Andy Stott, Ben Frost, Björk, Clark, wrong expectations, homesickness, cold snap, Theo Parrish, Herbert, violins and cellos, broken instruments, Hans Zimmer, Debussy, Britten, Shostakovich, Brian Eno, Johann Johannsson, Alva Noto & Ryuichi Sakamoto, hugs…

I become death

“We knew the world would not be the same. A few people laughed, a few people cried, most people were silent. I remember the line from the Hindu scripture, the Bhagavad-Gita. Vishnu is trying to persuade the Prince that he should do his duty and to impress him takes on his multi-armed form and says: “Now I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds.” I suppose we all thought that one way or another”

Robert Oppenheimer

“Become Death” will be a part of “Onus”, the project I’m working on.

2015, you’re welcome

Sele: (adjective) 1. Peaceful [the day, people]. 2. Calm, without waves [the sea]. 3. Quiet, who doesn’t talk much, who doesn’t make noise.   (Translate from Llingua asturiana/asturian language)

Sele is a collection of Christmas songs that are not actually Christmas songs. The same happened with Año Nuevo and Postcard. They are songs inspired by this holiday season, by the winter, the family gatherings & reunions, the decorated houses … but at the same time, songs that can be heard all the year.

I searched a homey, warm, innocent, close to nursery rhymes and lullabies sound. Children are really the kings of the parties, or at least as I see it. Compositions about optimism and joy, with a touch of melancholy, couldn’t do it any other way. I wanted to add and highlight a homemade and imperfect character, direct, without excessive tweaking and production. Something accessible to young and old people. The “Edward” touch.

Influences …

Christmas trees, wake up in a cold day, Laura Marling and Laura Veirs, children songs, The tallest man on Earth, carols, fireplaces, Cass McCombs, family photos, añaes, New Year’s Eve, colored lights, DADGAD, school notebooks, “the day after”…
