PROTOTYPE FUND

“Prototype Fund is a project of the Open Knowledge Foundation Germany, which is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). Individuals and small teams receive a grant to test and develop open source tools and applications in the fields of civic tech, data literacy, data security and others.

The Prototype Fund team support the candidates in their application process, keeping things as unbureaucratic as possible and adjusting it to the needs of software developers, hackers and creatives. In short: the Prototype Fund brings iterative software development and government innovation funding together.

In the next three years about 40 projects will be funded. In total, the BMBF will grant 1.2 million euros in support of these projects.”

“I make all sorts of videos – from documentary through to animation – but I have a focus on using, explaining and promoting Free/Libre/Open Source Software, Free Culture, Open Knowledge and Open Source Hardware.
In 2012/13 I lived a Year of Open Source, I’m part of the Open It Agency and the Open Source Circular Economy Days team, and I also run post-production workshops with free software!”

Subverses Covert is a video game for you to learn foreign languages. Set in a dystopian future, you are a spy on a mission to infiltrate a foreign corporation and steal their trade secrets. Eavesdrop and chat in a foreign language to uncover intel, blend in, and complete your mission. Engage in a story-driven experience and naturally acquire new vocabulary and phrases.

This game is being developed for Mac, Windows, iOS, and Android by a team of passionate gamers and experienced language learners! What makes our language-acquisition method effective is that it is built as a game first and its content is uniquely integrated with a certified language curriculum.

With the gaming medium, users are in a safe environment where they can be comfortable with making mistakes. No social pressure from classmates, and no teacher with a red pen listening, just you and the covert world of corporate espionage video game!
